Rangers get a little breathing room in reverse standings, lose 7-0 to Diamondbacks

The Texas Rangers scored zero runs and the Arizona Diamondbacks scored seven runs.
Believe it or not, this was the first time since September 20, 2019 that the Rangers were shut out. It’s not exactly a one to one scenario — because of circumstances — but the Rangers went 366 days without laying a goose egg.
For a team like the 2020 Rangers that are in the same company among some of the worst hitting squads of the last century, it is a surprise that it took so long for them to be held off the scoreboard for a whole evening. They just always seemed to find a way to squeak at least one home until tonight.
As far as these things go, it wasn’t actually the worst game to see their streak reach a dubious end. The loss gave the Rangers a bit of a cushion against for the 2021 No. 2 overall draft pick.
