59-100 – Garcia breaks records as Rangers come back for series win over Angels

The Texas Rangers scored seven runs and the Anaheim Angels scored six runs.

Today was not Glenn Otto’s day as the starter allowed five runs to the Angels before the first half frame of the contest had concluded.

It looked as though Texas was in for a 100 loss hangover until they enacted the patented John Blake Peck-away Theory and produced three runs in the bottom of the third.

After the Angels scored their final run of the game to make it 6-3 in the top of the fifth, Texas scored the final four runs of the game with two in the bottom of the inning and two more in the bottom of the eighth to take the series against the eternally underachieving Angels.

Player of the Game: DJ Peters had a nice game with a three-run home run and a double but Adolis Garcia hit No. 31 on the year to break the record for most dingers in a season by a rookie in Rangers franchise history.

In the process of doing that, the two-run shot gave Garcia 90 RBI on the year, which also broke the record for most runs batted in by a rookie in Rangers franchise history.

Up Next: The Rangers begin their final series of the season as they welcome the future Guardians to Arlington to close out the 2021 slate. RHP Spencer Howard is expected to make his final start of the season against RHP Eli Morgan for Cleveland.

Friday night’s first pitch from The Shed is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
