Spurs fans know the term well, we have heard how they are “tanking” these days looking for the next Tim Duncan. Many Spurs fans are fine with the idea. So let me propose another conspiracy theory, the Dallas Cowboys are taking a page directly from Gregg Popovich and the Spurs.
The Cowboys plan to tank this season in hopes they will land the big prize head coach, Sean Payton. Sounds a little far fetched, I know, but hear me out. Cowboys fans have been screaming from the rooftops this off season because the Cowboys have done very little to improve a team that lost a first round playoff game. Some argue this team is not as good as that team. And now we have Sean Payton making noise about not being done with coaching in the NFL, coincidence?
Look, if the Cowboys fail to get to the Super Bowl this season, it seems they will fire head coach Mike McCarthy and make a big play for Payton. “Super” Sean will then come in and make the Cowboys great again.
So the Cowboys will tank this season, let the Eagles win the division, get into the playoffs as a wild card and lose in the first round, what a plan!
So never fear Cowboys fans, the hero will soon arrive in Jerry World to save the day all thanks to the year of the tank!
