Gonzaga coach Mark Few admits team was unprepared for Baylor’s physicality in championship game

Less than a month after losing the national championship, Gonzaga basketball coach Mark Few admits that his team did not match the physicality of Baylor and that he wishes it’s something he had been more prepared for.

“That was the most physical game we’ve played in the last five years,” Few told Dana O’Neil of The Athletic. “I wish somebody had told me on Sunday morning that’s what we were in for. My guys would have responded. I wasn’t ready to go there.”

Many considered Gonzaga the favorite heading into the game, as the 31-0 Bulldogs had looked dominant all season. But the Bears controlled the game from the opening tip-off and imposed their will onto Gonzaga. Baylor outrebounded Gonzaga 38-22 and had twice as many steals over the course of the game. This resulted in an easy 86-70 win for Baylor, while Gonzaga saw its perfect season end on the very last game.
