Is Transparency Needed?

It started with Sliced Bread…it got heated up again last week with Nick Saban.
Texas A&M Coach Jimbo Fisher continues to defend his incredible recruiting class. He called a press conference the morning after Saban made his comments (no need to rehash in this space, you know what I am talking about).
Coach Fisher was at an event in San Antonio on Friday. While we were told he would not be speaking with the media, he did sit down to do an interview with Greg Simmons from KSAT 12.
Fisher told Simmons that according to the A&M Compliance department only one of the 11 early enrollees had a NIL deal. 1 of 11. The coach then blamed social media and the media, saying once it was written on social media “everyone believed it” and then questioned why the media did not research it.
Keep in mind, Fisher said 1 of 11 of the early enrollees. While he really doesn’t want reporters digging around and reporting what they find, he wants his truth out there. If that is the case, why not publish a list of all the student athletes that have an NIL deal and for how much – or a close range to how much.
As we all navigate these new waters, why not offer transparency?
