Perkins’ pledge pushes Texas A&M past Alabama for top class all time

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher has made it no secret one of his goals was to sign the highest-ranked class of all time. The Aggies are now in position to do exactly that after landing a commitment from five-star linebacker Harold Perkins on Sunday afternoon.

With the Addition of Perkins to the class, it pushes A&M to 328.82, surpassing Alabama’s total of 327.76. The Aggies also hold a sizable lead over Alabama and Georgia in the race for the No. 1 spot in the 2022 class. A&M now holds a double-digit point lead with Alabama currently sitting at 317.45 and Georgia at 311.96.

At 6-foot-2.5, 210-pounds, Perkins is rated as the No. 5 prospect nationally and No. 1 linebacker, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He is the third top-10 prospect to commit to Texas A&M joining Walter Nolen and Evan Stewart. Both Nolen and Stewart signed with the Maroon and White during the Early Signing Period. It doesn’t stop there though; the Aggies have six five-stars in the class and have 16 players ranked in the top-100 of the 247Sports Composite rankings. Perkins also joins Jake Johnson and Nolen as the top-ranked players at their position that are now part of A&M’s class.
