Predatory behavior…Multiple Violations…words that were used to describe the man with the richest contract in NFL history

Predatory behavior.
Egregious.
Multiple violations.
All words NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell used yesterday while talking about why the league is appealing the six-game suspension for Deshaun Watson.
The league wants a year. Goodell is following the CBA guidelines in appealing the suspension from former Judge Sue L. Robinson and using the words in her report.
“Because we’ve seen the evidence, she was very clear about the evidence, she reinforced the evidence,” Goodell told a group of reporters at the NFL owners meeting in Minnesota. “There was multiple violations here and they were egregious, and it was predatory behavior. Those are things that we always felt were important for us to address.”
No criminal charges are coming and all but one lawsuit has been settled.
And yet Deshaun Watson has the richest contract in NFL History. Five years, $230 million – guaranteed.
Peter King reports that other NFL owners are upset with the rigged contract Watson signed with his base salary just over a million in 2022 so he will only lose $57,500 per game missed this year.
Watson will make $46 million next year.
The league is always worried about optics. OK Goodell – go get your year and keep this in the public after the league approved the contract that everyone called BS on.
It’s so hypocritical. Stop the dog and pony show.
No matter how many games Watson ends up suspended, the man with a predatory behavior and multiple violations still has the richest contract in NFL history. Talk about optics.
