Stop With the Guilt Trip UTSA Fans

The UTSA Roadrunners have done it again, they are in the Conference USA Championship game and will take on North Texas this Friday inside the Alamodome.

Head coach Jeff Traylor has done a remarkable job with this program and is campaigning for a full house Friday night. I heard an interview with Coach Traylor this week and he says he is willing to help certain clubs if they want to attend, I love that, he is putting his money where his mouth is, something that is the norm for him. But then I see Roadrunner fans on social media with posts like, “if you don’t come to the game I don’t ever want you to complain about not having big time football in San Antonio.” Look I know everyone wants all of us to get behind the Runners and I hope everyone will, but spread the word and let things take care of themselves. No more guilt trips please. I wrote an article a few weeks back talking about UTSA’s history problem.

The Roadrunner football program is still just a little baby, it will get there, especially if the Roadrunners keep putting championship quality teams on the field. I have a feeling the Dome will be packed on Friday night and not because of guilt trips, but because of the work this football team has put in and the results they have earned. My hope is the Roadrunners will walk away with the title and head to a big time bowl game regardless of how many fans fill the dome.
