Sunday’s Red Sox-Rangers game has been postponed

The Texas Rangers scored ten runs and the Boston Red Sox scored one run.

The Rangers were on the good side of Fenway chicanery tonight as they banged around a season-high seven doubles as the contending Red Sox bumbled around with an unfathomable five errors and 17 hits allowed to help Texas plate basically a month’s worth of runs.

Jordan Lyles got an early lead and kept getting outs as he tied his season-high with seven innings and allowed just one run on five hits, three walks, and six strikeouts.

Meanwhile the Rangers played stellar defense at the amusement park that is Boston’s ancient ballpark while the Red Sox kept making mistakes on the field and on the bases.

Player of the Game: It’s probably Lyles but basically all of the Rangers did well tonight —every batter had at least one hit, for example — so, just to rub it in, we’ll go with Boston folk hero Brock Holt who had a couple of hits with a run scored and two RBI.

Bonus mention for Nick Snyder who made his MLB debut and was pumping in 101 MPH heat for a spotless final frame with his first big league strikeout.

Up Next: The Rangers and Red Sox are supposed to play the series finale tomorrow afternoon but there’s a tropical storm on the way that seems likely to rain this one out. If they do play, LHP Kolby Allard is the scheduled starter for Texas with a starter yet to be named for Boston. First pitch from Fenway is still set for 12:10 pm CT as of now.
