Tony Pollard had another huge game, and whether he is starting or not, he is RB1 for the Cowboys

I have suggested a couple of times on The Blitz that the Cowboys could elevate Tony Pollard to RB1 without telling us and after what we saw Sunday against the Vikings, maybe they have done just that.
Like Manu coming off the bench for the Spurs, it really doesn’t matter who starts, it’s who is getting the majority of the touches.
In the 40-3 blowout win at Minnesota, Pollard out touched Zeke 21 to 16. Sure it was the first game back from injury for Elliott but clearly the Cowboys have increased their usage plan with Pollard.
Both running backs had 15 carries…Pollard also had 6 catches on 6 targets – he is a weapon that the Cowboys finally seem to be utilizing. A couple of the pass plays were great designs by Kellen Moore.
Pollard finished with 80 yards on the ground (5.3 per carry) and added another 109 receiving on those six catches. Zeke had 42 yards on his 15 carries and 1 catch for 5 yards. They each found the endzone twice.
I am not comparing Pollard to Zeke. The Cowboys need both but Pollard has earned more touches and proven he can handle the workload – a knock on Pollard that he is proving wrong. Pollard adds an explosive dimension that the Cowboys need and one that Kellen Moore cannot ignore.
