Why Throw Patrick Mahomes under the Bus?

I think most of us would agree that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the most exciting QB’s in the game today. But do the players he plays with see something different than the rest of us? The first shot fired came from former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreke Hill who is now with the Miami Dolphins. He made a point early on that Tua Tagoviola is more accurate than Mahomes, a ridiculous statement by all accounts and something that could come back to bite Hill in the behind.

Now we hear from Sammy Watkins, who is now a member of the Green Bay Packers. When asked by fellow wideout Randall Cobb to compare Rodgers to Mahomes, Watkins answered this way,  “I think Pat is incredibly good, but A-Rod is on a whole nother level.” I think most would agree with that, I mean Rodgers is 38 years old, has 4 regular season MVP awards and 1 Superbowl win.  But Mahomes is quickly catching up and doing it in a hurry, after all he has 2 Superbowl appearances and 1 win.

The point is, why go there, why throw a great young quarterback under the bus? I know players who go to new teams want to impress their new teammates but it seems so unnecessary. Even the question seems pointless. Let the plyers play and then we can all judge based on the results. In the meantime, go play with your new team and stop with the comparisons!
