Brennan and Steele to Kick Off 2023 High School Football Season

This is the last weekend without real football.

The high school season kicks off next week and we kickoff our 94.1 San Antonio Sports Star Game of the Week with a bang.

Brennan at Steele next Friday.

Not only are they two of the best in San Antonio but two of the best in the state. In the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 6A preseason Top 25, the Knights are ranked 13th while the Bears are at No. 16.

Steele finished 11-1 last year – a surprising second round exit to Lake Travis. Brennan, 12-2 last year, beat Lake Travis in the third round before losing to Austin Westlake in the Regional Finals.

Last season Steele beat Brennan 35-34 in a thriller in the Alamodome with the Knights getting the go-ahead score with 18 seconds left.

As I start my 26th season of broadcasting high school football games in San Antonio, I look forward to another season with Rudy Jay in the booth, John Robbins on stats and James Pledger producing.
